Last Friday we did a poll about what this announcement might be, and it would appear that the collective wisdom of BCers got it right: Dan Slott with three artists, Ryan Stegman, Humberto Ramos and Giuseppe Camuncoli will be doing something new, presumably with Spider-Man, in January for Marvel NOW.

Dan Slott was Bleeding Cool’s best guess for the writer of whatever this project is, due to Marvel’s description of him as the writer of the year’s most shocking comics story. And that is still tagged as Amazing Spider-Man #700. And this is what happens next, courtesy of USA Today
MTV News interviewed George RR Martin about Wild Cards, the series of intertwined superhero stories, and he talked about not getting Alan Moore on the books, but being pitched at San Diego Comic Con in 1987 by “this skinny British kid who dressed all in black” called Neil Gaiman who he blew off because Gaiman didn’t have enough credits.
Happier days… Greg Capullo on the left, Rob Liefeld on the right.

Last month saw both Marvel and DC benefiting from Walking Dead #100 not taking away their marketshare, and saw DC again beat Marvel on marketshare by dollar but also saw Marvel claw back the volume marketshare. But that was a five week month, in which Marvel generally does better by increasing product to fit the extra week.
It started as a simple poll on the DC Comics Facebook page. “With Zero Month drawing to a close we’re wondering: How do you want to learn more about the history of the characters in DC Comics-The New 52?”
