NYCC Debut: The North End Of The World

Debuting at NYCC this year is a new historical graphic novel entitles The North End Of The World. The first graphic novel to chronicle U.S. photographer Edward S. Curtis, who embedded himself with Native Americans, photographing each tribe before they disappeared, and documenting customs and ceremonies, resulting in a 20-volume book.

The graphic novel is no small size either, over two hundred full colour painted pages. Written by Dave Hunsaker and illustrated by Christopher Shy tells the story of Curtis making the movie In the Land of the Headhunters about the Kwakiutl tribes of Vancouver Island.

The book is painted, in the Dave McKean school, integrating photographs and photo reference. The North End Of The World is published by Blackwatch Comics and Shadowcatcher Entertainment next year, but will be on sale first at the New York Comic Con.
