The UK's Longest Running Comic, The Dandy, To Close In December

The UK's Longest Running Comic, The Dandy, To Close In DecemberThe rumours are true. DC Thompson is to end the longest running comic book in the UK, The Dandy.

Started in 1937, the kids anthology comic The Dandy beat off its better selling rivals when it was launched and outlived them all by decades. Featuring the likes of Desperate Dan, Bananaman and Korky The Kat, the comic was relaunched three years ago with in increase in new content and a move away from cover mounted gifts, with strips such as Harry Hill, Pre-Skool Prime Minister and George Vs Dragon.

I rather liked it.

The last issue will be published on the 4th of December with issue 3616, the 75th anniversary of the comic, bagged with a facsimile copy of the very first Dandy.
