Bill And Ted Threequel Gets Galaxy Quest Director

It’s encouraging to know that Ed Solomon and Chris Matheson wrote their script for Bill and Ted 3, or whatever gnarly title it ends up claiming, on spec, without a commission. They did it because they believed in it.

Okay, you might argue that they believed in it as a business proposition but I don’t know about that. I’ve seen the original films and that doesn’t seem to be how these guys work. All that stuff about the Dinseyfication of communist ideals? These guys have principles.

Or maybe I was reading to much into it.

Film is a business, though – it can’t all just be dudes being excellent to one another – and the project is currently looking for a studio to co-finance it alongside the newly resurrected MGM. As well as the script and original stars Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves, the package being shopped around Hollywood also includes Galaxy Quest director Dean Parisot.

Parisot is currently gearing up to shoot Red 2. It’s a nice little comeback he’s having.

Vulture say the plan is to make this Bill and Ted threequel into  “mid-priced studio comedy like Hot Tub Time Machine” which is as good an example of the Hollywood snake eating its own tail as I can come up with right now.
