Tom McGrath Directing Penguins Of Madagscar Movie For 2015 Release

The penguins of Madagascar have been amongst the most overworked of all animated animals. Somebody call ToonPETA.

Announced at today’s Dreamworks animation panel here at San Diego Comic-Con was a new feature for the little flippered fellas, set for release in 2015. I understand that Tom McGrath, who directed all three Madagascar films to date, as well as Megamind, will be in charge.

I’m hoping for something like a Mission: Impossible picture. That’s what those penguins are best for. That and having a rather inflated impression of how seriously they should be taken.

The same panel also saw the premiere of the first ever footage from Chris Sanders’ The Croods. We don’t have it to share, unfortunately, but you shouldn’t miss Sanders’ brilliant character art for the film.
