I have long maintained that one of the most exciting things about San Diego Comic Con -from a completely squeeing fangirl perspective- is that you never know who you’re going to run into.
For example, you could be sitting in a bar at the Omni having a pre-con cocktail and have Seth Green & Clare Grant whiz right past you before you realized who they were. You could be walking through the lobby of the Marriott and see Robert Downey Jr. (or someone who is his doppelganger) lounging about having a chat with a couple of friends.
Or, you could be smoking a cig behind the con center (don’t judge) and run into Robin Thoresen, who plays Clara on The Guild, hanging out with her Mom.
It’s the latter that happened to me, on the eve of the Con and the day before the official Geek & Sundry party, I happened upon the lovely actress and was able to have a quick chat with her.
Before we get to that, though – a couple quick announcements, my “any other business”
Congrats to Lars Jensen and eritoto, the winners of the Her Universe giveaway. I hope you really enjoy your t-shirts as much as I’m enjoying mine.
If you are at SDCC and are a Love & Capes fan, make sure to follow Thom Zahler’s tweets at @loveandcapes or visit Booth #2000. Zahler is running several really cool coupons with deep discounts on original artwork and other happy treats that you can purchase at the con.
And, of course, if you are in SD and are planning on attending the Geek and Sundry party tonight and you see me there, please grab me and say hello.
Shout outs complete, now onto the crux of this article. Here’s my stolen mini-interview with Robin Thoresen.
Hey Robin! Are you excited to be at Comic Con?
Yeah. How about you? Have you been here before?
Yeah, I missed last year, but I’ve been covering Comic Con for a while. This year there seems like there’s going to be some really awesome stuff.
Yeah, I’m really excited, I’m just here for the ride. Chilling.
Chillin’ and ill-in like a villain? Nice! So Season 5 [of The Guild] just wrapped up, Season 6 – when do you start?
Are you allowed to say?
I’m not allowed to say… we may not be doing a Season 6.
No, we are, but I cannot officially say that. It’s coming… but, you didn’t hear it from me.
Is it the best job ever, working with Felicia and the cast?
Oh yeah, it’s too much fun, really! I get paid to just hang out with my friends. It’s pretty nice doing something that you love.
Pretty rad! What else are you up to?
I’m actually working on a couple projects right now, I just did a short film and I’m trying my hand at writing, actually. So, yeah, I’m doing that right now.
You are? Anything that we should be looking out for?
I don’t know – if I could shop it anywhere I would, I’ll keep you posted!
Do you have anything you want to say to the fans?
Thank you for watching The Guild! And, continue… and, have fun at Comic Con!
Clara is seriously one of the best parts of The Guild.
Ah, thank you! I really appreciate that!
Because the character is just so crazy and says things that are just wonderfully nutty.
Yeah, she’s funny and endearing and crazy in a really wonderful way.
Thanks so much for your time, Robin.
RT: Awesome! Nice meeting you!
And that was the end of that.
