Cerebus Kickstarter Smashes Records

The funding of an audio/visual/digital version of the Cerebus story High Society was received on Kickstarter even quicker than Sullivan's Sluggers… less than a day into the Kickstarter funding, it has received $10,597 of its $6,000 goal from 156 backers with 31 days to go… and it looks like we're going to get a lot more than just High Society.

If more than $6,000 is raised (this is where I suspect John is pulling my leg: MORE than $6,000???) then the money would be put aside to do e-books/audio books/digital graphic novels/oral history/weekly serializations of ALL OF THE CEREBUS BOOKS, Beginning with CEREBUS (500 pages), CHURCH & STATE vol. 1 (600 pages). CHURCH $ STATE vol. 2 (600 pages), and JAKA'S STORY (500 pages).

And the rewards are there to prove it. One reward that netted the fund $2500 gives the one lucky pledger,

An 11×17 Black and white inked full figure original drawing of TWO of your favorite Cerebus characters, a 60 minute phone conversation with Dave Sim, All Three Hard Cover Editions of "High Society" (Spanish, Italian, French) signed by Dave Sim with a full figure CEREBUS sketch, a CGC 9.8 Signature Series of CEREBUS issue 300, a Mint Condition 1981 sIX Deadly Sins Portfolio signed by Dave Sim, a pack of Diamond Back playing cards, all three Cerebus Archive Zombie Variants (Issue 1, 2, 3) signed by Dave Sim with a small head sketch in each issue, a "FOUR MORE YEARS!" Poster, a Strange Adventures "Dave Sim: The Last Signing" Postcard, the GUYS PARTY PACK, a Swords of Cerebus volume 6, a CEREBUS AS SPAWN print signed by Dave with a sketch of Cerebus in a Spawn mask, Cerebus Issue 0 (White and Gold Logo), the CEREBUS WORLD TOUR BOOK – And of course a free copy of the entire "High Society" Audio/Visual Book in Digital Forma

No one yet has ponied up the $10,000 for the ulimate Cerebus prize…

Dave Sim will fly to your hometown anywhere in North America. You pick him up at the airport, provide lodging for him and he'll hang out with you for a weekend (You pay Friday and Saturday Lodging – He'll pay for Sunday's lodging as he'll stay at the hotel and observe the Sabbath – and go back to the airport on Monday) paint a black and white CEREBUS inspired Mural on a wall in your house (note please: YOUR house. Please don't use the doddering old fool to seriously hack off your landlord or landlady when you skip town) or place of business (Comic shop, perhaps?) At the end of the weekend you provide transportation back to the airport. Of course you'll also receive a free copy of the entire "High Society" Audio/Visual Book in Digital Format. Hours of fun teaching Sim what a cellphone is and what it looks like on one. Be patient and he'll "autograph" it on your QWERTY one painstaking letter at a time. Speaking of which, he'll also autograph ALL of your CEREBUS stuff and anyone's else's CEREBUS stuff you or they have on the premises. Just think: if you find four other CEREBUS fans with fork lifts, the price per person drops to $2,000!!
