Tony DeZuñiga, Co-Creator Of Jonah Hex, Passes

This morning, Filipino comic book websites reported the death of Tony DeZuñiga, known locally as "Mang Tony".

Tony was one of the earliest artists from the Phillippines working in the mainstream US marketplace, and paved the way for many comic artists to find work from Marvel and DC, co-created Jonah Hex and Black Orchid for DC and worked on many comics for the Big Two. Indeed, he helped instigate that, working with publishers to find new Filipino talent.

He recently suffered a heart attack and was in ill health and his family appealed for help from the comics community to help pay his medical bills.

There will be a wake held in Heritage Park, Taguig, from 10 am tomorrow until Tuesday.
