Greensboro Named "Comic Book City, USA"

Greensboro Named "Comic Book City, USA"I love how American towns stake "nicknames". And vote on them and everything. Just like how Greensboro City Council of North Carolina have just voted unanimously to nickname the city "Comic Book City, USA" on Free Comic Book Day each year. Just for the day, mind you. May the 5th this year.

Local comic shop Acme Comics (as nominated in the Retailer category in the Eisners for its fourth year) was behind this move, as we reported before. And is planning to use the opportunity to push a literacy drive among children and adults in the town through comics.

For this year's FCBD, they are also giving away comics at the Natural Science Center of Greensboro to offer a second Free Comic Book Day location…
