Will J Scott Campbell, Mark Bagley And Carlos Pagulayan Help Avengers Vs X-Men #2, #3 And #4 Sell 90% Of #1?

Bleeding Cool has been following the way in which Marvel incentivised retailers to order large numbers of Avengers Vs X-Men #1 and spinoff books, giving generous discounts and attractive variant comic covers to those who ordered up to 200% of their number of Fear Itself #7. On current figures, they succeeded well beyond that.

But the worry, as ever, is that second issue sales will collapse. Retailers are often prone to cut second issue sales by half, in the belief that certain readers don't like the comic, or wil choose to read the rest in trade, or are just not minded to read on.

Well, Marvel seem determined that this not happen.

Carlos Pagulayan will be drawing an Avengers variant and an X-Men variant of Avengers Vs X-Men #2, made available to retailers who order 90% or more of their orders for Avengers Vs X-Men #1. J Scott Campbell will be drawing similar variant covers for Avengers Vs X-Men #3 for those retailers who, again, order 90% of Avengers Vs X-Men #1. And Mark Bagley will do the same for Avengers Vs X-Men #4.

Considering that orders are over 200,000, if all retailers complied, that could lead to sales of over 180,000 for a second and third issues, pushing those Before Watchmen comics down the chart.

Until then, here's a Ryan Stegman cover for Avengers Vs X-Men #5 from the moon. And with Hope sporting a rather fancy party mask.
