Thursday Trending Topics: Comics And SOPA

With Marvel and DC owned by two of the world’s largest entertainment companies, the conversation over comics and SOPA has been simmering for quite some time, but today it hit the boiling point as word of Marvel Entertainment’s explicit support rocketed around the internet. Will either major publisher get hit with a Godaddy-like backlash? Probably not, but the discussions on this matter is a long way from over.

Well, now it’s time for the internet to turn on Marvel. Who, along with their parent company Disney, have come out in support of this bill. They are the only specific comic book publisher to have done so, although they are joined by comic-publishing book publishers like Hachette, Macmillan, Harper Collins, Penguin and Random House, and by DC Entertainment’s parent company Time Warner.

Clearing out their backlist, Marvel are offering the following titles to direct market retailers at a massive discount, which will be hard for many of them to ignore. At which point the titles will then suddenly disappear in this form and, if recent history is anything to go by, will then proceed to sell for silly dollars on Amazon. You have been warned.
