Abel Ferrara To Write DSK Movie For Gerard Depardieu And Isabelle Adjani

Dominique Strauss-Kahn, the former managing director of the International Monetary Fund, often called himself DSK, and the media followed suit. This summer, those three letters were slapped over newspapers worldwide as Strauss-Kahn was forced out of the IMF, not to mention the running for the French Presidency, after allegations of sexual assault.

I’ve chosen, almost at random, an excerpt from The New York Post on May 15th, to remind us how it all began:

The trouble began at around 1 p.m. yesterday when a 32-year-old housekeeper entered Strauss-Kahn’s $3,000-a-night suite at the luxury Sofitel on West 44th Street — apparently unaware he was still inside.

The married Strauss-Kahn was in the bathroom, and emerged naked, chased her down a hallway and pulled her into a bedroom, where “he jumps her,” a source said.

“She pulled away from him and he dragged her down a hallway into the bathroom where he engaged in a criminal sexual act, according to her account to detectives,” Browne said. “He tried to lock her into the hotel room.”

Soon afterward, Strauss-Kahn got dressed and headed off to JFK for a flight to Paris.

You can use Wikipedia’s collection of references to dig through the dirt that’s piled up in the intervening months, should you wish.

There’s a rather different DSK story in the French media today as, according to L’Express, a film about the scandal is already in the works.

Or loosely about the scandal.

Sometime Driller Killer Abel Ferrara is said to be writing and will direct a film about a Strauss-Kahn like figure, caught up in a similar set of circumstances. Gerard Depardieu is named as the lead, and Isabelle Adjani will apparently play his wife.

Strauss-Kahn’s wife is Anne Sinclair, a French TV broadcaster and the heiress of a fortune, inherited from her art dealer Grand Father.  She is reputed to have been the driving force behind Strauss-Kahn’s political ambitions and, asked about her husband’s notorious skirt-chasing, she once said:

I’m even proud of it. It’s important to seduce, for a politician. As long as he is still attracted to me, and I to him, it is sufficient.

A most interesting character too, it would seem.

The L’Express article says that Wild Bunch are considering producing the movie, though they appear to be downplaying this, officially. We all know how it goes, though…
