I kind of wish Jim Lee had gone forward with this Action Comics design, because it’s a reinterpretation of one of the most classic Superman motiffs, which first appeared on a Superman cover on the original (and it’s weird to have to put it that way, but here we are) Action Comics #13 by Joe Shuster. As a matter of fact I saw a debate recently over whether Action Comics #10 (the third Superman cover) or Action Comics #13 (the forth Supes cover) was more classic — and while I personally think the #10 is an epic cover, the #13 wins that argument, hands down.
