Marvel To Announce "The Incredible Hulk" #1 By Aaron And Silvestri At San Diego Comic Con For October

Instead, I've embedded myself in Direct Conversations, a meeting between DC Comics and comic book retailers about what's coming up with the publisher, and their relationship with the direct market. Comic-Con Pervs: Bustin' Makes 'Em Feel Good

He's looking to take pictures of anybody at Con who is themselves taking pictures of "seXXXy geek girls." So, basically, if you lapse and try to snap off a quick "upskirt", you may find yourself photographed, and that image published online. Bus-ted.

Mondo By Ted McKeever Announced At San Diego By Image Comics

MacGyver The Comic – Tony Lee, Becky Cloonan And Lee David Zlotoff From Image Next Summer

Lee David Zlotoff is the creator of TV series MacGuyver, a show that's title still epitomises the character's knack of finding a solution to any problem with mundane ingredients he happens to have to hand.  Hell, could anyone watch the ripping-up-the-floor scene in a recent episode of Torchwood without flashing back?

Dark Horse To Publish Brian Wood And Kristian Donaldson's The Massive

Dark Horse has just announced at their San Diego Comic Con panel that they will be publishing Brian Wood and Kristian Donaldson's The Massive. More to come of course. But it's all starting to look a little nautical…

Check Out A Gorgeous Page Of Original Art From Geoff Johns And Ivan Reis' Aquaman #1

Take a look at this beautiful splash page written by Geoff Johns, penciled by Ivan Reis, and inked by Joe Prado from their upcoming New-52 release Aquaman #1.  Tell you what, I haven't been the biggest Aquaman fan in the world in the past and wasn't going to pick this up, but I think this page just sold me.

Check Out Pages From Jim Lee And Chris Claremont's X-Men #1 Remastered & Recolored 20th Anniversary Edition

I'm betting a lot of people just read that and thought to themselves, "I can't believe X-Men #1 was 20 years ago!"  But the best selling single-issue comic book of all time — by Chris Claremont, Jim Lee, and Scott Williams — was released in 1991.

The Art Of The Year Of The X-Men (See Also: Art Adams Is Good)

Didn't have time to post this earlier tonite and didn't want to let the opportunity pass — there's some great stuff here.  This is the batch of artwork released along with Marvel's Year Of The X-Men panel today:

San Diego Comic Con DC Costume Protest To Start With A Harleypalooza

Tomorrow afternoon at San Diego Comic Con, there is going to be a protest walk over the DC relaunch, and specifically some of the costume changes therein. The different look of Harley Quinn has caused much comment from a skintight Harlequin costume to, well, basically a loose corset.

The Eisner Awards 2011

I was a bad man and didn't make it to the Eisner Awards. I was tempted away by Girly Geek parties and the temptation of Tr!ckster. Shame, I heard Jonathan Ross and Dave Gibbons made one hell of a double act. And there were worthy, intriguing and surprising entries too… I'll let you decide which is which. Special congrats to my old employer, Jonah Weiland of Comic Book Resources.

Friday Trending Topics: Marvel Reboot

Interesting news day today.  Despite a steady stream of DC New 52 (and good to see everyone finally on the same page as to what to call that, incidentally) news, Marvel took the day with Rich's con bar tip on the Incredible Hulk #1.  As DC saw last month, sometimes you just can't plan the pr on these things — and sometimes, it's better when you don't.

Justice League Panel High Res Art From Flash, Aquaman, Mister Terrific, Savage Hawkman

The Justice League panel today at San Diego Comic-Con premiered the interior art for many of the books in the group part of DC Comics-The New 52. These included AQUAMAN, THE FLASH, MISTER TERRIFIC and THE SAVAGE HAWKMAN. Below, scroll through the gallery to see the new art that was shown today:

Each retailer had to commit to buying 150% of their normal amount of the normal cover and then at least 500 copies of their special variant version. Which means that's an extra sale of, say, 80,000 on top of the normal figure. Biggest selling comic book of the month, folks, by far.

Superman Panel New High Res Art From Supergirl, Superboy, Action, and Superman Bleeding Cool Comic Book, Movies and TV News and Rumors

If you were at today's Superman panel at San Diego Comic-Con, you were treated to a first look into some of the art for the Superman group books in DC Comics-The New 52. Tony Lee In Town For His Pitches Of Silver

Comics writer Tony Lee arrived last-minute at San Diego Comic Con this year. Only last month he was boasting about getting some reasonable hours of sleep and eating properly. And then he turned up, waistcoat and all.

Win! Horrible Bosses Office Packs

No, I won't endorse your angry rants about your demented boss. Yes, I can offer you the chance to win one of five Horrible Bosses office packs. Just read the following and follow instructions like a good little worker:

Tim Bradstreet's Poster For Walking Dead Series 2

Steve Niles' REMAINS To Debut On Chiller TV This Fall (Trailer)

…which should not imply that Chiller TV is doing a series of comic creator autopsies, but rather that the graphic novel Remains, by Steve Niles and artist Kieron Dwyer, published by IDW, is the first original film from Chiller TV.

Live From The Underworld Awakening Panel – Footage Discussion And Chat

Ms. Beckinsale has dropped a few swear words during the Q&A. I think that's frowned on here, right?

Amazing Trailer For Soderbergh's Haywire

This trailer is making me homesick. I want to be back with my wife and friends just yammering on about how much I love it. The ensuing, mildly condescending pats on the head would settle me down a touch.

Live From The Panel For The Raven – Edgar Allen Poe Does Saw Meets Sleepy Hallow

The Raven panel started with a trailer for the film. James McTeigue was to intriduce the project, McTeigue sitting behind a name card reading Alice Eve. No surprise, then, when she walked out to great the crowd, alongside costar Luke Evans and the incredibly popular John Cusack.

Soderbergh's King Of The Hill Headed To DVD And Blu-Ray

Though he doesn't know when Universal will be releasing it, Stephen Soderbergh has recently signed off on a new remaster of his long unavailable (since laser disc long) and it will be coming to DVD and Blu-ray… Soon? Hopefully.

Live From The Haywire Panel – The Best Action Film Of 2012? Looks Like It

It looks fresh. It looks sharp. The action is hard and fast and looks very, very painful. This will be the next big thing to hit action films and prove seminal in a Bourne fashion.

Trailer For Walking Dead Season 2

Fresh from San Diego (as if anything from this sweat pit could really be described as fresh) is this trailer for the second series of The Walking Dead.

Preview: H+ Produced By Bryan Singer

H+ takes viewers on a journey into a apocalyptic future where technology has begun to spiral out of control…. a future where 33% of the world's population has retired its cell phones and laptops in favor of a stunning new device – an implanted computer system called H+.  This tiny tool allows the user's own mind and nervous system to be connected to the Internet 24 hours a day.

The Walking Dead Returns On October 16th

Write a big, f at 9pm on your calendar for October 16th. That's when The Walking Dead will return to AMC. This will be part of their Fearfest programming.

Spielberg Confirms That Jurassic Park 4 Is In The Works

However, the word around Comic Con is clear: Spielberg announced that Jurassic Park 4 is definitely in the works, likely to hit in 2013 or 2014 and will be in 3D. Any more details? No. Just that table scrap, but I'll take it.

Impressions Of Total Recall Footage And Pre-Vis Played In Hall H

Though Total Recall has a long way to go, and is estimated to be just half way through production, Len Wiseman and Sony have brought a sequence along to Comic-Con. Apparently comprised of the first footage shot, the scene shows what happens when our protagonist Douglas Quaid, as played by Colin Farrell, goes to Recall for his "brain vacation." The basic plot beats are the same as in the Verhoeven film, at least to start off with, but the details are very different.

Idris Elba On What It Will Take For Him To Play Luke Cage

Going into more detail, Elba said "we just need to know that you want that." Does this mean he's got the part locked up and Marvel just need to green light the film? Or that Marvel are looking for confirmation that casting Elba would be the right thing to do? Or just that he's craving approval?

Live From The Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengeance Panel – "Fu**ing Your Shit Up In 3D"

After the clip they promised that any accidents encountered by stuntmen were left in the film, making this a rare opportunity to see bones get broken for real on the big screen. How vivid these splintered limbs will be remains to be seen.

Small Gods To Become A Movie – Here's The Trailer

What's really astonishing about this trailer for Small Gods, from Jason Rand and Juan E. Ferreyra's Image comic book, isn't the high level of polish. It's the fact that the film hasn't even started production yet. These pre-production, proof of concept teasers never look this slick.

Joe Cornish On Any Possible Attack The Block Sequels

Cornish finds it an honour that Edgar will share good ideas with him, he said. As for this sequel? Nothing Wright suggested was revealed, though Cornish said any sequel would start at the exact moment the first film finishes. This means "they'd have to start filming three weeks ago" or "wait until Benjamin Button technology is cheap enough that we could do it eleven times", for each of the young cast members.

Ant Man And Cornetto Trilogy Updates

Joe and I turned in a draft on Monday… we've got some concept art… I love it and hope we get to make it soon.

Live From The Attack The Block Panel

The clip comes from later in the film, starting with Brewis meeting a bloody Hi-Hatz in the lift and moving on through the subsequent race to Ron's weed room. Interesting that they've selected such a tense scene which, despite the inclusion of a couple of big laughs, isn't quite as funny as a lot of the film.

Underworld Blu-Ray Box Set To Feature Anime Spin-Off Shorts

It's just been discussed in Hall H, but details were so-far a little wishy washy. What we do know is that some original anime shorts set at various points throughout Underworld mythology are being animated and will be included on an upcoming series compilation Blu-Ray. I assume this box will street around the release of Underworld Awakening in cinemas, though it may actually come later and include Awakening.

Stephen Soderbergh Didn't Deny He Was Retiring, But "Everybody" Is Reporting He Did

This morning, at the Haywire panel, Steven Soderbergh was asked about his oft-reported intention to retire just a few more films from now. Here's what he said:

New Poster For Immortals Unveiled At Comic-Con

I'm playing catch up with this one, I think, but I do like it more than the prior Immortals promotional materials and therefore thought it was worth the thirty seconds it took me to post. I hope you think it's worth the time to look at.

From The Legendary Panel – Pacific Rim, Seventh Son, Paradise Lost And Mass Effect

Legendary Pictures held their pre-production panel on Friday, focusing on four upcoming genre films that while announced, have yet to properly enter production.

New Muppets Poster Features Sam The Eagle As The First Avenger

The Muppets have had a blast throwing out parody trailers out before finally unveiling the real one, and it seems that they're on a similar mission with their posters. Here we see Sam the Eagle, the deep-voiced, mono-browed American patriot of The Muppet Show in an uncannily familiar outfit and pose.

Conan O'Brien Crashes Green Lantern Animated Panel To Debut New Flaming C Trailer

Pretty nifty trailer for a throwaway gag. Gotta figure they really are trying to build towards something with it.

Visualizing The Avengers: Hawkeye, Black Widow Concept Art For 2012 Film Revealed

Concurrent with the release this week of Captain America: The First Avenger, Marvel Studios has begun its full court press for promoting its May 2012 release, The Avengers.  Yesterday's concept art for the film featuring a good look at Captain America and Iron Man, now here's Hawkeye and Black Widow.

The Amazing Spider-Man's Lizard Revealed: Big, Green, 3D

A few shots at the end revealed his creature look in full detail. My impressions: great FX. Humanoid face, no long lizard snout. Big. Muscly. Probably about ten feet tall. Body not quite symmetrical. Long lizardy fingers. Mouth upturned a bit like a smile. Think scaly hulk with human-meets-reptile features.

Marc Webb Suggests The Amazing Spider-Man Tells The Gwen Stacy Story

The Spider-Man panel at Comic-Con's Hall H is underway. Marc Webb has said that he thought the Gwen Stacy saga would make for a good feature film, and so he aimed to do so.
