Matthew Fox (And More) To Fight Them On The Beaches In World War Z

Hannah Shaw Williams writes for Bleeding Cool:

Just yesterday I was informing all you horror fashionistas out there about how zombies are in this season, and here comes along yet another zombie film to prove my point, this time starring Matthew Fox from TV show Lost.

Luckily he's got plenty of experience fighting polar bears and puffs of smoke so a bunch of shuffling corpses should be no problem.

Bloody Disgusting reports that Fox has signed on to play a character currently known only as 'Parajumper', and joins a cast that already includes Brad Pitt, James Badge Dale, Mireille Enos and Ed Harris. The name of the film? World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War, based on the Max Brooks novel of the same name. Damn, why did we only ever study the Corn Laws at school? Zombie wars sound a lot more interesting.

Here's a rundown of the plot for those not already familiar with it: It's 10 years after a zombie apocalypse has hit the world and left it in a bit of a shambles. Brad Pitt is a researcher for the U.N. Postwar Commission and James Badge Dale is a solder named Captain Speke, who tries to warn the military about the oncoming zombie threat and as a result is locked up in a detention centre when the war begins.

The storyline is patched together from testimonials of different people all around the world, giving their perspective on the zombie outbreak.

Marc Forster, known best for Quantum of Solace, Finding Neverland and Stranger than Fiction, is set to direct and the film will begin shooting next month. The script has been penned by J. Michael Stracynski, who was responsible for many epsidoes of The Twilight Zone, a range of Babylon 5 TV movies and episodes, and also for Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future (if you don't remember that last one, don't worry, because I wish I didn't remember it). Stracynski co-wrote the screenplay with Matthew Carnahan, writer and producer of TV series Dirt.

I never turn down a good zombie flick. If you fancy sneaking onto the set to get a sneak preview of the film, latest reports say that it will be filmed in Malta, London, Glasgow and Elstree Studios. So just, you know, wander round those places until you run into it. Shouldn't take too long.

Say it with me, everyone: "Braaains…"
