Thursday Runaround – When Asians AttackQuoteWatch: "a customer just asked for a refund on a purchase because she expected the drawing I offered to do would be a fully-rendered, finished illo like those in the book, and not just a sketch that "…you probably did in five minutes." LocalWatch: Dale Eaglesham gets a local Canadian profile for his relaunch of Alpha Flight for Marvel.

"There's a real graphic inventiveness with older artists who find unique ways to render stuff with lines, whereas now it's almost digital painting," says the 48-year-old. "I think we're losing something in terms of comics. It's a lost art. That makes me a bit of a dinosaur."

RacistWatch: Great Asian sterotypes in comics through the ages displayed in a new exhibit in New York University's Fales Library and Special Collections gallery, MARVELS AND MONSTERS: Unmasking Asian Images in U.S. Comics, 1942-1986.
I'll be doing a one-on-one talk with Bill at the Opening Reception of the exhibit on Thursday, May 26, 2011, 6:00-8:00 pm, at the Fales Library gallery itself. And if you can't make it, come see the exhibition when you can — it'll be up from May 26 through August 19, 2011.

One can only hope that these disappointing omissions are corrected in future volumes, and later editions of Volume One.
