The next film from Danny Boyle will be Trance, described as an “art heist gone wrong” story with “the dark, sexy, hard-edged tone of Boyle films like Shallow Grave and Trainspotting” – which, of course, reminds me that Trainspotting was supposed to be sexy.
Boyle is looking to film the project this summer, then shelve it and come back to it after the Olympics. It’s not just that he really, really likes the parallel bars, it’s that he’s in charge of the ceremonies, pomp and other superfluous circumstance that will surround the 2012 games here in the UK.
All good fun, though. I’m sure I’ll see a lot more of the razzle dazzle than the actual events.
According to Deadline, Boyle and producer Christian Colson have already been speaking to “British and U.S. talent”.
An art heist film called Trance, then. Hmmm. I’m wondering if this will have anything to do with the Stendhal syndrome?
