A Very Public Royal Wedding Comic – Rich Johnston Plug Of The Week

Today, in Britain, the comics Kate Middleton – A Very Private Princess, William Windsor – A Very Public Prince and the flipbook prestige format compilation Kate And William – A Very Public Love Story, are published in comic stores the nation over. There's a big signing at Forbidden Planet London on Saturday at 1pm with the world's media in attendance and the place decked out with union jacks, flags, bunting and royal cutouts, where I'll be signing copies with Gary Erskine, Owen Jellands, Ian Sharman and Harry Markos. If you fancy coming down, please do. You might get on international telly, and I could really do with the support. Amazon.co.uk will only be sending out copies this weekend. So if you want the comic this week, your comic store is the only place to get it.

Americans will get their copies in their comic stores through Diamond US later (as will 300 lucky Australians). The US chain store Hastings may get their copies earlier, that's just the way things are, and I've no idea how Amazon.com are getting theirs.

The comic has had Markosia's biggest print run to date, but they've already almost sold out so a second printing is being lined up.

I'm told the book may get a piece on The One Show on BBC1 on Thursday, and plenty of that media coverage to follow this weekend.

As for the comic? Well I quite like it, obviously. I've definitely tried to use the material to tell a compelling story of two people's lives from very different worlds intertwined, and Gary Erskine and Mike Collins have risen to the royal occasion. I'm already discussing what I want to do with them both next…

And if nothing else, it's a comic you can buy for your mum/gran. That's got to be a good thing.
