Tom Cruise Attached To Del Toro’s At The Mountains Of Madness, Filming “Supposed” To Start In June

UPDATE: This quote from Murphy may not be so accurate after all… stay tuned for an update.

Producer Don Murphy has given an update on the progress being made with At The Mountains of Madness, Guillermo Del Toro’s long-in-the-works adaptation of the HP Lovecraft novella. It’s good news, too.

Murphy has told io9 that the film is “supposed to shoot in June” with Tom Cruise still attached to star. I know Cruise isn’t as popular as he used to be (not to put too fine a point on it) but he’s one heck of a movie star. Del Toro’s screenplay has a huge, epic scale and he seems set on making it into widescreen spectacular. Cruise sits well with that Classic Hollywood tone and flavour.

We’re also expecting to see Ron Perlman in the film, unsurprisingly, but there’s still a lot of casting to come. Expect to be hearing plenty more in the coming weeks and months.
