Art Spiegelman Wins Grand Prize At AngoulêmeIt's the biggest prize in one of the biggest comic book industries in the world. And New Yorker Art Spiegelman has just won the Angoulême Grand Prix, presented at Angoulême, the largest comic book convention in the world.

The award is based on his contribution to the form, both with the magazine Raw, and the strip Maus that ran in it and became the first widely critically acclaimed English language comic book.

He is the third American to win the award, following Will Eisner and Robert Crumb.
