11th Annual Rumour Awards: Speculation Of The Year

This year, Bleeding Cool tipped a number of books as ones to watch in the speculator market. So, based on current non-CGC, non variant eBay values, what would your speculator portfolio be looking at if you bought one of each? And what if you had bought one of each?

Skullkickers #1 $2.99. Now sells for $15.
27 #1 $2.99. Now sells for $10. (#2, as yet unreleased, sells for $8)
Morning Glories #1 $2.99. Now sells for $40
Bring The Thunder #1 $3.99. Now sells for 99 cents.
Raise The Dead 2 #1 $3.99. Now sells for 99 cents.
Marineman #1 $3.99. Now sells for $3.19
Night Of The Living Dead Holiday Special #1 $3.99. Now sells for $3.50
Legends Of The Dark Knight 11-15 $5. Now sells for $28.
Superman Earth One #1 $19.99. Now sells for $14
Action Comics #890-894 $15. Now sells for $12
Green Lantern #29-35 $10. Now sells for $5
Sea Bear And Grizzly Shark $4.99 – Now sells for $6
Death of Dracula $3.99 – Now sells for 25c
Fame: Robert Pattison $3.99 – Now sells for $3
Superman Batman Annual #4 $3.99 – Now sells for $7
M Rex Preview, 1 and 2 $3 – Now sells for $6
X-Factor #201 $2.99 – Now sells for $2
Green Hornet #1 $3.99 – Now sells for 25c
Crossed #1 Auxillary $3.99 – Now sells for $8
Captain America #602 $2.99 – Now sells for $4

One copy each would have set you back $109, and you could sell them now for $167. Minus eBay and Paypal fees. A few winners there and lots of losers, but the winners seem to balance things out. And a 60% return on your money in a year can't be too bad? Of course if you had sold some of these comics at their height, you could have easily cleared $300. As ever, knowing when to sell, as knowing when to buy, is always the key. So, Speculation Of The Year Award, has to be Morning Glories #1, still keeping its value on the aftermarket.
