Gareb Shamus, CEO of Wizard Entertainment, will today announce a new Wizard World Comic Con for Miami. The event is scheduled for Feb. 26-27, 2011, at the Miami Airport Convention Center (MACC) in Miami.

Why Miami? Shamus says:

The fans wanted a warm weather destination for the winter, so we are presenting Miami Comic Con. We have the greatest fans in the world, and they are supporting us in every city. We are looking forward to celebrating pop culture in Miami this coming February.

They’re going to be taking up 172,000 square feet of luxurious, state-of-the-art meeting, social function and exhibition space and spilling over into the adjacent 334-room Doubletree Hotel. Both have just been done up, and apparently they’re very nice. Good to know.

Being just three miles from the airport can’t hurt either. Especially for Taxi cab abusers like me.

Wizard World con events in  New Jersey, Cincinnati, Cleveland and Nashville are yet to be dated.
