Terry Gilliam Tells You About Bill Plympton To Raise Funds For Documentary

Alexia Anastasio is attempting to raise funds for her documentary Adventures in Plymptoons!, about the animator, caricaturist and filmmaker Bill Plympton, using the Kickstarter website. If she doesn’t get another five thousand dollars by 5:59AM EDT on Tuesday 12 October 2010, she won’t get any funds at all. Not sure how that works, really, but it looks like the project is in jeopardy right now, and for the want of just a few thousand… Insert comment about the catering budget on Transformers 3: The Dark of the Moon here.

If you don’t know Bill Plympton and his films, you’re missing out. He’s one of the most talented, and no doubt idiosyncratic, of all animators. His new feature, Idiots and Angels, has just started its US theatrical engagements with a booking at the IFC in New York. He’s also just released a new short, The Cow Who Wanted to Be a Hamburger, which you can preview on his official site.

In order to generate interest in her Plymptoons doc, Ms. Anastasio has uploaded a clip of Terry Gilliam talking about Bill to the film’s Kickstarter page.

It’s not the most serious video, of course, but I’m sure Gilliam will have something more insightful to add in the actual documentary, if and when Ms. Anastasio secures the necessary folding stuff to continue.
