New York State Of Whine

New York State Of WhineSo one of my old fillings fell out eating a New York bagel. Ow. Drinks are having to be curtailed as a result. Double ow. Oh and I managed to leave my camera at home. Anyone know of a place I can buy a dirt cheap digital camera with USB support in and around 34th and 8th?

I had a quick wander around the setup for the NYCC kicking off tomorrow. I think the 1821 Comics launch could be a big one, with Stan Lee opening for them, and a stack of books, including Warlords Brotherhood, Hercules The Uprising, Missing Linx, Hero Petz, Abiding Perdition, Rack STar Super Diva and The Tower being promoted or published over the show, as well as their Stan Lee cover-starring Zedura magazine.

I also get the feeling that there will be lots of photos with the Kull standee, a muscular warrior and buxom babe with heads cut out ready for you to stick yours through in their place. Oh, and the Ubisoft dancing girls working out the the nmusic and stylings of Michael Jackson – The Experience. Oh people are going to have a lot of fun with that one.

I wandered to the CBLDF party, past kids playing basketball with police as security. And, Fisher King style, coming across the most beautiful Croatian Catholic Church hidded by the skyscrapers on 41st and 10th.

The Comic Book Legal Defense Fund party that seemed to be a pretty buzzy place to be, with the likes of Bob Schreck, Jim Valentino, Heidi MacDonald, CB Celbulski, Edric Risso, David Hine, Tony Lee, Fred Van Lente, Ben Templesmith, Robbie Morrison, Simon Fraser and Larry Marder holding court. So what did I hear?

Well I understand that no one from Zuda, even people with current work, was invited to the DC Talent Party.

That Marvel are claiming they are selling in their digital numbers for a book the week of release, what that book would sell in one very large store. Say a couple of thousand for Ultimate Thor #1…

But that digital sales estimates for 2010 are expected to be 6-8 million dollars for the entire comics industry.

That October the 14th is the time when most DC employees given options… will have to decide which way they'll go. West… or down.

That Mark Millar is still in town – or at least was spotted on Times Square earlier today. Surprise guest?

That Ben Templesmith's forehead tastes of lemon if you lick it.

More stories to come. For now, I'm here, and you can contact me on 619-302-4749. See you folks tomorrow?
