Earlier in the year, Daniel Craig shot the thriller Dream House with Naomi Watts and Rachel Weisz, and director Jim Sheridan. Come July, some test screenings had convinced the film’s producers that a couple of weeks of reshoots would be a good idea, and these were reportedly scheduled to kick off on September 27th.
Unfortunately, that doesn’t look like it’s going to happen now – Daniel Craig is away in Sweden working on David Fincher’s do-over of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Surely somebody should have made sure the actors were inked-in for the reprise of production?
According to Pop Goes The News, a secret source has suggested that the film is now likely to miss its February release date due to Craig’s obligations elsewhere. Presumably, then, the plan will be to wait for him to be done with Dragon Tattoo and fly him in to Ontario for the Dream House repairs.
Here’s an interesting observation made in the same story (it’s come up before, but it wasn’t widely discussed, so you likely missed it). Contrast, if you will, two basi story premises. First, Dream House:
Craig plays a publisher who quits his New York City job to relocate his wife (Weisz) and daughters to a small New England town only to discover that a woman and her two children were murdered in the home, possibly by her husband. Watts plays a neighbor who was close to the victims.
And also House at the End of the Street by same the screenwriter, David Loucka:
Elisabeth Shue [plays] a mother who moves into a house across the street from the scene of a double murder with her daughter, who befriends the son of the murdered couple.
Sounds like somebody got into a bit of a rut.
