Wednesday Runaround – Luke, Tanya, Joss, Norm and Alan

"Look at the man you're thinking of casting as Luke Cage. then back to me. Then back to that guy. Then back to me. Yes I'm the man your Luke Cage could look like, if you'd only cast me. Or I suppose I could be Iron Fist."

WhedonWatch: Joss Whedon is in Australia to speak at the Sydney Opera House. He tells the Australian Press;

It's why Joss Whedon could find himself in his car in Los Angeles seven years ago, shaking his head at his own madness. He'd just pitched, to a very cool reception among the film executives, a Batman film that would return to the origins of the crusader-vigilante. He was talking personal epiphanies, they were talking franchise. He left empty, they went on to make a blockbuster.

You idiot, he told himself. How many more times do I need to be told that the machine doesn't care? The machine is not aware of what is in your heart as a storyteller.

That trip ended back in the office just in time to hear that the Fox Network had cancelled Firefly before its first season had even been completed. As Whedon later recounted, he now had his answer to the question posed in the car. "Oh! So, uh, just once more. OK!"

BatWatch: Norm Breyfogle talks Life With Archie

once I realized that all that's really required for a "traditional" Archie drawing style is to follow the formula for the faces and to keep the body proportions at five to six heads tall (instead of the seven to nine heads tall used for most all other mainstream adventure stories, especially superheroes), it came quite naturally to me. I've discovered that everything else can be more or less my own established, dramatic drawing style…

And, the two artists inking my pencils, Joe Rubinstein and Andrew Pepoy, are wonderful! (By the way), I personally requested Rubinstein as an inker because I've always liked his inks on my pencils, ever since our collaboration on DC Comics' title "Anarky."

MooreWatch: Steve Bell talks with Alan Moore at the Edinburgh Book Festival.

Moore entered the auditorium in a black t-shirt with "Property of Miscatonic University" printed on the front and was greeted with a long applause. The girl next to me excitedly whispered "Glorious beard!" as if that was the most splendid thing you could ever say about a man.
