Why I'm Excited About Marvel's Osborn

Of all the books announced by Marvel at San Diego, Osborn was the one that intruigued me most. Firstly that I hadn't heard anything about it before, secondly that it was written by Kelly Sue DeConnick and thirdly that it struck me as a book I really wanted to read. The defeated Norman Osborn, in high security jail, rebuilding himself, his Goblin identity and his power base. A very kind of HBO Marvel comic.

At the San Diego panel, we were told to pay attention to the new Goblin tattoo on Osborn's neck. I wonder who else will get similarly tattooed. A new Goblin gang? A new Sinister Six? After all, prison would be the ideal place to meet them.

A political power play in a prison environment, with Osborn taking the role of manipulator amongst prisoners and guards and eventual leader, the only thing that annoys me is that this is a mini-series.

Will Osborn be the new Stringer Bell of the Marvel Universe? The new Simon Adebisi?

I want this. I want this now.
