As Zuda Closes… Wowio Makes A Move

A number of Zuda creators who found their titles untimely ripped from the digital schedules without warning have been searching for a new home.

Zuda was hard to beat, regular payments on production of work, no need to worry about advertising, revenue or indeed profit, and the backing and promotional support of DC Comics. I remember at some Zuda signings at San Diego and New York Comic Con the disbelief on some of the creators faces as to who they were signing next to at the DC booths. David Gallaher, creator of High Moon and poster-boy for Zuda's success told me;

I'm incredibly proud of what Zuda has accomplished over the last three years. I have had the chance to interact with some tremendous talent and fantastic editors. I think the level of innovation at Zuda is something that was unequalled and unsurpassed. I hope DC continues to move forward with 'no fear' — and continues to cultivate outstanding new talent and harness new technology.

But what happens to the abandoned creators, the abandoned properties? I understand that WeVolt, a digital online comics hub bought up by Wowio has made a number of aggressive moves towards these creators, offering them complete ownership of their work, an established audience and a chance to keep their dreams going.

And why aggressive moves? Well, they're not the only game in town who would mind seeing what they could with a bunch of properties that Warner Bros has already researched and developed with an existing audience before letting go…
