Losing The Kingdom – Christian Beranek Talks Webcomics Factory

Losing The Kingdom – Christian Beranek Talks Webcomics FactorySo just what is happening with the Kingdom Comics line from Disney that existed well before the Marvel announcement, but doesn't seem to be publishing much right now?

Especially with public face of the imprint Christian Beranek running off to a webcomics company instead.

Christian tells Bleeding Cool;

Many people have asked me over the past couple of years what is going on at Kingdom Comics. We made our announcement in May of 2008. The truth is: There's a lot going on, I just can't give out any news without approval from Disney.

There were three companies working under the Kingdom Comics banner: Ahmet Zappa's Monsterfoot Productions, Harris Katleman's company and my own Lead Pipe Entertainment. We went in as a team and it was quite the experience. I never expected to have an overall producer deal just three years after touching down in LA. Working in development at a major studio was an extraordinary eduction and I count myself fortunate to have made some things happen there. Disney has been nothing but a pleasure to work with. They are truly an inspired group of people with a creative vision.
I have opted out of the last year of my contract to focus on some new endeavors. I was exclusive in comics at Disney and now I'm able to work with other companies. I am still producing a few projects under the Kingdom banner and look forward to seeing them achieve their full potential. Because let me tell you, it's very exciting stuff!
I thank Ahmet and Harris for being my teammates. We rocked some good times together and I wish them both nothing but the best with future projects. I myself can be found over at The Webcomic Factory. We're releasing a new comic every day of the week. You can find us here.
