Gorillaz To Headline Glastonbury

Gorillaz To Headline GlastonburyWith U2 pulling out over  Bono's bad back, Gorillaz have stepped up to headline the UK's biggest music festival, Glastonbury.

The animated band formed by Blur's Damon Albarn and Tank Girl's Jamie Hewlett had previosuly stated they wouldn't play the show. But U2's departure opened the top slot and they stuck in, planning a pyrotecnic spectacular for the Friday night on the Pyramid stage. Gorillaz collaborators Mos Def and Snoop Doggy Dogg are also lined up separately for the show an will now also appear as part of Gorillaz. And Damon wants to get Lou Reed on board too.

The pop primates will be followed by Muse and Stevie Wonder. Other acts over the weekend include Orbital, Dizzee Rascal, The Flaming Lips, Pet Shop Boys and… well, hundreds more.

Tickets sold out months ago, but the BBC will be covering the festival extensivekly as usual.
