Wednesday Comics Hardcover Hits Forbidden Planet Early

The Forbidden Planet/Titan Books/Diamond UK relationship is all very twisted, considering that once upon a time, they used to be the same company but have now split up into a distributor, publisher and two chains of comic stores, both with practically the same name.

But sometimes those familial ties seem to help. Not only did one of the Forbidden Planet chains get the Kick Ass hardcover early, but this week they get the Wednesday Comics hardcover published by Titan ahead of everyone else and two weeks ahead of the US ship date. The image above was taken at their Shaftesbury Avenue flagship store.

I'd like to point out to some critics, that there is not a hint of Forbidden Planet doing anything wrong here. This is an agreement between a supplier and one of its largest clients. And I'm sure any other similarly sized organisation might be able to arrange another deal.

And they're also selling to their customers for almost a third off retail price. I know of one rival store owner who popped in to buy a couple of copies to sell them to their non-Forbidden Planet shopping customers, early.

Basically, odds are that if this news get out they may not have any more copies come this Wednesday…
