Life's A Pitch At C2E2 #3 with Geoffrey Wessel

Geoffrey D Wessel has written a story for a to-be-announced Image anthology. A comic called There Is A Light with John Keogh. Together they also had a page in Phonogram Vs The Fans. He has mini-comics. And he's working on a Zuda submission.

And he's at C2E2 seeing if he can drum up a little interest as a comic book writer. It's a hell of a task, but he's keeping a diary for Bleeding Cool.

* STILL haven't seen an editor at BOOM! Studios yet.

* Attended the Creating Your Own Comics the Image Way panel. Some great information there:
– In attendance: Ben Templesmith, Tim Seeley, Frank Cho, Jimmy Palmiotti, moderator Betsy Gomez
– Frank Cho described 50 GIRLS 50 as "STAR TREK with boobs"
– In the unlikely? event that you get a series accepted but not sold enough to go to trade, you CAN take it elsewhere to reprint.
– Sometimes they do "straight to trade" on certain books
– Black&White v. Color is not a consideration at all.
– The greatest consideration goes to books that have something that is simply NOT OUT THERE
– Lion's share of promotion on creator; lion's share of production on Image
– The ratio of books submitted to books accepted is officially "Shitload : Not Many"

They also showed the LIBERTY MEADOWS animated pilot.

Well, didn't pick up any other immediate opportunities, but who knows what will come in the aftermath.

Never saw a BOOM! Editor, so instead I just left card and minis with the two friends of mine over there.

Did have a chance to talk to Stephen Christy, and it was a good, positive talk overall. Fingers crossed.

Mostly spent today wandering Artist Alley, making contacts, handing out cards, trading minis for other minis, etc. All productive.

Long story short: you may not get to actually PITCH your wares, BUT: always have product to show, always have a business card, always make contacts, and never NEVER underestimate the value of the post-show hotel bar meetups. You'd be amazed what can come from that.

My con is over, and now headed back home to research scads of SONIC THE HEDGEHOG material.
