The Nightmare Week Before Christmas

pileWe all know that December 30th is a comic book skip week. No New Comics. Apart From That Blackest Night #6/Free Origins Of Siege/Avengers Calendar And ID Cards That Shops Have To Hold For A Week.

The presumption was that books intended for that week would peter out through January.

Not at Marvel.

I understand that they are treating next Wednesday almost as a double ship week.

When it comes to monthly comics it won't be quite this big is but it's close. 32 comic books, 8 variants and 5 more second printings on top, that's a lot for one week from Marvel.

But then there are the trades and hardcovers. And boy.

13 hardcovers, including one omnibus with 3 variants on top. In one week. From one publisher. Then another 12 trades.

That's an immense amount. It smacks of an higher-up order at Marvel to get product out of the door before Christmas.

It will provide ample opportunity for last minute Christmas presents. Add to that the likes of Image United #2 and a bunch of Blackest Night tie ins and the shelf stackers are going to have hurting arms…

That Marvel list in full:

X-Men Mutant Massacre , X-Men vs Fantastic Four Premiere (plus variant), X-Men Vs Avengers Premiere (plus variant), X-Force Premiere 3, Scourge Of The Gods Premiere , Runaways: True Believers Premiere , Ms Marvel Premiere Vol 8, Marvel Zombies Return , Marvel Masterworks Nick Fury Vol 2 (plus variant), Incredible Hercules: Incredible Thorcules Premiere, Guardians Of The Galaxy Premiere Vol 3, Daredevil: Bendis Maleev Omnibus Vol 2, Anita Blake Vampire Hunter Premiere Vol 2.
