Rainy Monday Morning… Moves, Grooves, Who's And Sues

Grant Morrison has moved Hollywood representation from CAA to ICM. I wish I knew the significance of this, but Morrison does have a number of screenplay projects in the works, from We3 to Area 51 and probably a stack more and they have been a bit slow in moving forward…

Reuters has some fun quotes, eeking out Marvel/Disney content when there isn't actually anymore news yet. Damn, I should work there. Anyway, they have Bob Layton "The industry still has to make new inroads if it's to survive — from distribution right down to the corner comic shop," said Bob Layton credited as "a writer of Marvel's Iron Man stories" saying;

I have no doubt that Disney may bring in a different distribution model… a large number of comic shops in America are dingy, poorly managed venues, akin to porn shops. The comic industry needs easily accessible venues where young people can casually find and purchase comics, either through subsidies or discount incentives.

Followed by Sean Creswell of comic shop Capes Comic Book Lounge in Omaha saying;

I see the Marvel acquisition by Disney helping to expand the genre of comic books and remove it from the dusty basement of the world… I do see Disney stepping in and offering retailers outside of the direct comic book market incentives for selling Marvel products

No word as to whether that shop is either dingy or poorly managed.

The 24 Hour Comics Day being held yesterday (adding to the Long Beach, Mid Ohio, Birmingham worldwide comics madness this weekend) received some local press all over the place. Nice one guys… and that's a lot of quickly created comics!

Doctor Who will be getting a new logo for the new series. It will debut online tomorrow 8am in the UK (midnight tonight for you west coasters). Until then, here's a quick video of the logos so far…
