Let?s Give Thanks To The Crashing Tuesday Comedies ? The Week In TV Ratings
Jamie Wotton Writes For Bleeding Cool.
It was Thanksgiving last week, and as you know, holidays mean people turn off the TV, start talking and get real with their families and friends.
Monday kicked off the week ? funnily enough. NBC?s powerhouse The Voice was down a lot, from 4.4 to 3.7, but others; from How I Met Your Mother (3.0) to Revolution (2.6), stayed the same. No need to worry.
On FOX, Tuesday was another disaster. At the beginning of the Fall, before all the baseball matches and presidential debates, New Girl premiered high while Raising Hope (1.5), Ben And Kate (1.1) and The Mindy Project (1.3) didn?t? do as high. At all. So it?s not surprisingthat New Girl (2.0) has fallen down to the rest of the nights average, but it would have been nice for it to still be powerful next season.
I hate being a the-majority-is-dumb type of guy, but I think that people just find New Girl too weird now. It?s like Happy Endings or Community. The show dares to change up the status quo, and because of it, its ratings falter. Unlike, say, ABC?s Modern Family, which Is almost doing the exact same thing it was four years ago.
Speaking of ABC and Happy Endings, their niche comedies are doing very poorly on Tuesday too. The Beek From The Creek over on Apartment 23 will be searching for a new job soon. I love the show, but there?s no way a 0.9 is coming back. Happy Endings is in more of a stronghold, in its third season, but it?s still doing only a 1.2. Ouch.
On Wednesday, the holiday began to creep in even more, with low ratings all around. Whitney got a 1.1, Chicago Fire a 1.4. Up from last year though, was A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving. Timeless stories or what?
We saw repeats and football galore on Thanksgiving Thursday itself. The highest rerun, as you might expect, was The Big Bang Theory on CBS scoring a 1.8. Beating an all-new episode of Glee with a 1.5.
Nothing much to report on Friday, except that the HOLIDAY SEASON HAS BEGUN AND OH MY GOD ALL THE NETWORKS ARE RUNNING CHRISTMAS SPECIALS.
CBS had Frosty The Snowman (2.0), FOX aired Happiness Is A Warm Blanket Charlie Brown (0.5), The CW showed The Happy Elf (0.5). Seeing a gap in the market, NBC swung in with The National Dog Show (1.0). It?s no Friday Fringe, but it?ll do.
More interestingly, Sunday had serious highs and lows. Revenge hit a series low of 2.2, while Once Upon A Time rose up from last week with a 3.0. The Simpsons (3.3), Family Guy (2.8) and Bob?s Burgers (2.0) were also all up.
I?ll see you all next week, with more numbers, speculation and excitement. Ifthere?s something more fun than TV ratings, I don?t want to know it!

Too bad about B in 23. I'm really digging it.
And Dreama Walker is a an angel who walks among us.
New Girl is finally hitting it's stride with the guys, but now it's the girl that throws people off. I imagine it's hard trying to come up with some type of quirkiness every week. Too bad they just couldn't have a geek girl. I know a few cosplayers that could be in that show. Tallest Silver being one of them easily.
I was talking to my wife the other day and noted how NCIS is the biggest drama because after all these years, nothing has changed. Only one new member but that was in the 2nd season. No one getting married to each other. No weird romances, no baby being born in a cab, no added children as regulars. You can jump in at any time. That's nice sometimes for people who can't catch a good show when it's on and have to see repeats.
And HIMYM? FIND A WIFE!! Holy crap, order her out of a magazine for all I care! I'm tired of getting my hopes up.

I love New Girl & The Mindy Project. I'm hoping that FOX sees the future money in DVD sales and streaming revenue
(I don't care how the maths works, okay? New Girl + Mindy Project + more seasons + _____ = profit, dangit)
