Default Charles Soule To Write Swamp Thing After Scott Snyder

    Well, there's a thing.

Charles Soule, writer of 27, of of Bleeding Cool's more favoured Image comics, will write Swamp Thing after Scott Snyder leaves the title in April.

This is another example of creators best known for their creator owned comics being snapped by the New 52 of late, following John Layman, Jim Zubkavich and Ray Fawkes.

If this also means that we won't see the next chapter of 27 anytime soon, then it is sad sad sad news.

Who? I don't think I've ever even heard of this guy. I know all the others though.

Creator owned comics are great. But they don't pay the bills.
Struggle on an indy book. Get recognized by editors at the big two.
Go work on one of the big two's titles. Get some name recognition.
Go back to creator owned when people know who you are. Sell more. Actually make enough to survive.

    Lather, rinse, repeat.

To all the new talent coming onboard at DC, I say "welcome".

Then you're clearly missing out on a great comic. "27" has currently been released as two series of four over-sized comic-books. It took me a few pages to really get into it, but it was worth all of the effort!
I do believe TP's are available of both stories.

Totally willing to give him a shot! 27 has that darker tone to it, so it'll be interesting to see what Soule can do with a character like Swampy.

Ok, but the big question is will he put a riddle in this series with an award like he did in 27?

I thought that DC would take this route when the New 52 launched. It's what they did in the 80s, when guys like Ostrander, Loebs, Baron, and so on came over from First, Comico, etc.

It's cool to see DC pick up another indie writer.

They started out slow with Scott, Lemire and Fialkov, and not with Kindt, Soule, and others it is really seeming like we might get a new class of writers.
