Default Swipe File: DC Women Squashing Earths

From the new solicitations for Supergirl #18 and a rather familiar scene from the cover of World Of Flashpoint.

Of course it all goes back to a bloke...

In Swipe File we present two or more images that resemble each other to some degree. They may be homages, parodies, ironic appropriations, coincidences or works of the lightbox. We trust you, the reader, to make that judgment yourself? If you are unable to do so, please return your eyes to their maker before any further damage is done. The Swipe File doesn?t judge, it?s interested more in the process of creation, how work influences other work, how new work comes from old, and sometimes how the same ideas emerge simultaneously, as if their time has just come. The Swipe File was named after the advertising industry habit where writers and artistcollect images and lines they admire to inspire them in their work. It was swiped from the Comic Journal who originally ran this column, as well as the now defunct Swipe Of The Week website.

Yes, Flashpoint, remember that? Surprising how easy it is to forget now...

    Vertical. Horizontal.

And Flashpoint was never meant to be unforgettable, simply a means to an end....

Wasn't there a Wizard cover that showed the (original) Earth Two Superman crushing the Earth? Sometime around Infinite Crisis.

EDIT: Found it. Okay, it's not ONE Earth being smooshed.

"Wizard Magazine" now seems like it happened 100 years ago, doesn't it?

On only a tangentially-related note, I never understood why DC does those movie-promotion banners across the tops of the covers. The absolute last people they need to remind that there's a Batman/Green Lantern/whatever movie coming out are the people already buying the comic.

I've always been a fan of this cover GCD :: Cover :: The Spectre #4 (Spectre #4, 1968).

It's because all their modern movies (unless they have Batman in it) are forgettable.
