Default Thursday Runaround - Time To Sell Out

    HUDSON INITIATIVE

Ex-EIC of Comics Alliance, Laura Hudson writes for Wired about the Hawkeye Initiative.
The meme originally kicked off with a post by Tumblr user Hoursago, who noted the discrepancy in how Hawkeye and Black Widow were posed on the cover of a Marvel Adventure Super-Heroes comics, and tried her hand at a piece of original art that swapped their poses. Inspired, webcomic artist Noelle Stevenson proposed a hypothesis: The way to fix all the inexplicable stances of female characters ? so ubiquitous in superhero comics that they often go unnoticed ? is simply to ?replace the character with Hawkeye doing the same thing.?
    ASH RISING EXPERTS

The Telegraph reports on that most wonderful of weekly kids comics, The Phoenix.
We still live in the physical world, so a comic needs to be Physical (Fizzy) and Digital (Didgy). It?s a new thing, a FizzyDidgy! You can hold it, collect it, put it in your pocket and it doesn?t run out of power! The comic can come to you, through your letterbox, every week, and cheer up the whole family. The young fans send artwork and stories to The Phoenix every week. It all goes on our Wall of Awesomeness. It makes us laugh. It makes us cry. It?s amazing. (And you can get it digitally too if you want).
    SELL OUTS

Batman #13 and Batgirl #13 have burnt through their second prints, seeing the comics go to a third print. Also, yesterday's publication of Blackacre #1, I Love Trouble #1 and Great Pacific #2 have also all sold out and gone to second prints...

    LUNCH BREAK

The Beat takes the piss out of recent Bleeding Cool coverage... without actually doing any work themselves. Sometimes stories take time to come together...

This is Computo the Comic Link Conqueror speaking. I come for your women. But for now I merely collate comic-related bits and pieces online. One day I will rule. Until that day, read on.

They say I am a work in progress. The fools.

CCL Podcast #341 - Major Typos From DC and Marvel
Next we have Marvel. It was a sad day when I found out that the Marvel Premiere Classic line was being canceled, but I know that all good things must pass. Unfortunately, Marvel and the collected edition editors took a day off when designing the dustjacket for MPC: Hulk Abominable. The final volume in the series, Variant Volume 106, has the wrong number: Volume 103! There is no excuse for such a blatant mistake.

The Dark Knight Rises Motorcycle Suit | DudeIWantThat.com
Answer: As a souped-up sick UD Replicas Motorcycle Suit. Question: What is one more way in which the Dark Knight rises? Designed especially for the latest Batman trilogy's epic conclusion, the Dark Knight Rises Motorcycle Suit decks out riders in head-to-cod-piece leather armor whose details mirror the on-screen elements of Gotham's protector's, and Kevlar inserts engineered to serve as the wearer's own protector during precarious encounters on the road. The suit is a movie replica, yes, but a costume, definitely not.

Bane Wasn't Christopher Nolan's First Villain Choice In 'The Dark Knight Rises' - Business Insider
"I first brought up Bane, I think Chris was initially horrified. And I said, 'Hold on, hold on, hold on. This will be the Nolan version of Bane,'" said Goyer. "He's a creepy, very physical character. Somebody who's been physically distorted. I think Chris liked that."
Love letters reveal extramarital affair between 'Peanuts' creator Charles 'Sparky' Schulz and younger mistress | Mail Online
The late 'Peanuts' creator Charles Schulz was once so infatuated with a young woman 23 years his junior he sent her dozens of romantic letters and drawings of his beloved cartoon characters.
EARTH PRIME TIME: INTERVIEW WITH J.H. WILLIAMS III (PART TWO) | DigBoston
Oh yeah, people are so excited for it. I had art collectors pinging me about being on a list to get pages, before anything had even been drawn yet.

What the Telegraph completely failed to mention, but I had from the Phoenix tech guys via twitter is that the digital relaunch is scheduled for January.

I fear that in a year or so from now we're going to be seeing headlines about how "Batman" keeps dying in motorcycle accidents...

I looked at the article, and questioned the claim that The Phoenix was the first kid's comic to launch in 25 years--did they forget The DFC?
