Default Hit-Girl #1 Missed Off Retailers' Order Form

Last year, Kick Ass 2 #5 by Mark Millar and John Romita Jr was accidentally left off the order form. It was in Previews, but not on the form that retailers used to order the comic. They did their best to raise awareness of this, but in the end reduced orders saw Marvel choose to match orders from issue 4.

They might not be able to do that as easily this time.

Hit-Girl #1 by Mark Millar and John Romita Jr was solicited in Marvel Previews for June. But, again, it was missed off the retailer order form.

The FOC date is the 6th of June. If you want a copy, make sure your retailer knows by then...

Is that right? The FOC for Secret Service #3 is mid-May, and that's on sale in the first week of June. If Hit-Girl is on sale in June as well, shouldn't it have a similar FOC? A final order cut off date of at least 2 months before publication seems a bit.... odd.

That's probably the source of the error. In Europe, 6/4 is the 6th April.

Surely that conversion must come up with regularity when reading comics solicits and order forms, though, right?

Marvel did the same thing with a couple of trade paperbacks from the November order form. You'd think they'd do the sensible thing and just push Hit-Girl back a month. Especially since, like most issues of Kick-Ass (and Icon books in general), it's gonna be horribly late anyway.

Usually yes. But it can slip by us from time to time. I'm fairly clued into it, but everyone now and again I do a double take when it looks like a book has been pushed back 6 months, when it's really only a week or two.

With those books being creator owned, it's probably not up to Marvel to say the book should be pushed back. And if this was an error on Marvel's part, you can bet that Millar will make sure he's not out of pocket for it.

I really enjoyed Kick Ass, but Kick Ass 2 has been abysmal. Millar is trying way to hard to be EXTREME. Calling your villain The Motherfucker? I'm not at all offended by the profanity, but I am offended by the laziness of his insert-EXTREME-thing-here formula.

Also, Hit Girl is not a comic. It's a movie pitch, as are all of his projects. Best of luck in Hollywood Mr. Millar, but please, stop pretending to give a shit about comics.
