Ah, the album cover. That little bit of abstract art that tells so much and so little about what's to come. Being a music junkie I've got a nice collection of CDs downstairs, classics with some great album images. So, I'm curious if you other cool bleeders have a favorite? Care to share why too? And please notice I said "favorite", not "best", because when we're going by the best it's this without question:
But my favorite? That'd be The Who's "Tommy":
While it is a great piece of abstract work, it reflects to me the album motif of captivity and freedom. We had our main character of Tommy being handicapped (deaf, dumb, and blind), but through his pinball playing found himself free (the birds on this very cover). Very telling of the music and very surreal.
Second place for me, just because it's so goofy:
Seriously, WTF Captain Beefheart?
(PS: reading through this post I can't help but notice I've channeled a little too much Patrick Bateman here. Anybody listen to Phil Collins?)
