any idea how quickly she was added to that list on wikipedia? I know it was one of the first things I thought of when I heard she'd died (the other was a bit of gallows humour about rehab).
Interesting to see some of the other names on that list (though I think Richey Edwards is an odd one to be considered -given the whole fact that he just disappeared-).
Certainly in less than 8 hours... which is statistically internet par for the course. X million people hear the news, it only needs one to update Wikipedia.
For the rest, it's not 'Ooooh, look how many rock stars die at 27, spooky!!'
At 27, leading causes of death are traffic accident, drink and drug overdose and suicide, with plenty of scope for overlap. So it then becomes 'how many of all those dying at 27 were rock star(ish)...'
People see the patterns we look for.
