Default Peter Dinklage Cast In X-Men: Days Of Future Past, Wolverine Has

Bryan Singer last night broke off from his ongoingJack the Giant Slayer promotional commitments to drop another casting surprise on Twitter. This time there's not really any indication of what the role will be, but that doesn't matter so much when the actor's this good.
Officially like to welcome #PeterDinklage from #GameOfThrones to #XMEN #DaysofFuturePast Very very excited!

    ? Bryan Singer (@BryanSinger) February 14, 2013
I guess it is Game of Thrones that has really cemented Peter Dinklage a fan favourite, but I tend to think of The Station Agent first of all. He was also very memorable in Death at a Funeral and... er... Death at a Funeral. Both of them, the Frank Oz version and the Neil LaBute one.

Conversely, Singer has also named a character who will be appearing in the film without revealing the actor. Speaking with Collider he said:
Part of it takes place in the 1970s. And Richard Nixon?s in it, that?ll be an interesting casting choice?
    Yes it will.

The Nixon information confirms some changes form the comic book version of Days of Future Past in order to fit the story into the ongoing movie series. Any number of nips, tucks and alterations will no doubt be necessary. Indeed, at this stage, we don't really know who the protagonist of the movie version is going to be.

The only two real contenders, I think, are Kitty Pryde and Wolverine, and a good part of this is the age of the actors playing the roles. These are the two key "youngsters" from the future timeline.

And while the comics would suggest it's Pryde that takes centre stage, I have a hunch it's going to be Wolverine.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter for a lengthy profile piece, Hugh Jackman discussed his role in the film. They don't quote him exactly on this but do call his role "large," and at the same time say he isn't signed on for anything past Days of Future Past. That's a tactical move, it seems:
When Singer and Shuler Donner asked for a multipicture commitment, Jackman was delighted. He didn't realize that the fewer films he signed on for, the more leverage he would have if the producers wanted him back. "Here's my naivete," he laughs. "I was like, 'Fantastic!' My agent goes: 'No. You'll learn.' I said, 'They're going to guarantee me three jobs, and you've got it down to two?' I was so stupid. By the third,X-Men: The Last Stand, I understood."
Production on Days of Future Past kicks off in April and will go on for most of the year. Somehow, there's still a tremendous amount of things we don't know about this film despite the regular newslets - that's how big and complex it's going to be.

    Can't wait.

Wait, there is another prominent Dwarf at Marvel ...

Obviously the absolute best fit would be the Asgardian one in the Iron Man comic ... sweary, genius, miniature Warren Ellis ... *perfect* Dinklage ....
