Default As Expected - Hugh Jackman In X-Men: Days Of Future Past Too

As I've been wibbling on about for months, pretty much the entire key cast of Bryan Singer's original X-Men movies are going to appear in the next one, Days of Future Past.

Two days ago Singer himself confirmed that Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart were set to reprise their roles as Magneto and Charles Xavier. Now The Hollywood Reporter say Hugh Jackman is "in talks" to return too.

Essentially, they're negotiating the terms of his return. Wolverine has a pretty key role to play in the film, as in the original comic.Well, unless Singer and Kinberg have been changing things up a lot of late. But I don't think they'd cut down on the Logan action any more than they'd absolutely need to.

Jackman will first been seen reprising the role in next summer's The Wolverine and all signs point to that one being quite the jaw-dropper.

There's not been a single X-Men movie without him so far, and that's the way I like it.

Didn't Professor X die in The Last Stand? Does this mean that the future scenes in Days of Future Past happen in an alternate reality where Brett Ratner was never born?

    ha!

On the Chuck dying part, presumably it is a possible future, averted by the end (to ensure that he will die)

He transferred his consciousness in to another body.

Basically, we'll see how this pans out.

What we also need is for Cyclops to return, the way he was killed off in X3 was truly terrible. I'm very much hoping that Singer can undo almost all of X3 with the exception of Jean Grey still being dead. The only interesting thing Jean Grey ever did was die (in the comics and in the films).

The way Days of Future Past turns out. They could very well be retconning the old trilogy entirely. Don't forget that Days of Future Past occurs because of the X-Men failing to stop a mutant assassination by the brotherhood on a Senator. With the killing of Senator Kelly by the Brotherhood in the first movie, it escalates events that leads to X2 and the Last Stand. Which then brings upon the Sentinels and the future they hope to prevent. Once that trilogy is undone. Fox is free to pursue their own course of movies and timeline without adhering to any sequels down the road and they've managed to do a reboot without actually having to call it a reboot.

In X2 she was damn good. In the comics, not so much, but that's more a result of the general standard of writing of female characters of her era.

What annoyed me about killing off Cyclops as it got away from what worked so well about the ending of the comic: she couldn't kill Scott because it was Scott she really loved. Even when the Phoenix took over that spark was still there. I am not someone who needs every word (or even most) to be adhered to in an adaptation, as long as you get the point, and that didn't.
