Default Andrew Garfield Wants The Next Spider-Man To Be Half Black, Half Hispanic - Miles Morales?

The London Amazing Spider-Man event has just finished. Actor Andrew Garfield was asked, on stage about the honour of playing Spider-Man. He told the crowd that the role is bigger than any one actor, that last time it was Toby, this time it's him and next time... he wants to see the role played by a half Hispanic, half African-American actor.

Basically, Andrew Garfield has been reading Brian Bendis' and Sara Pichelli's recent relaunch of the Ultimate Spider-Man series, starring just such a Spider-Man, one Miles Morales under the suit.

I'd be surprised if Miles lasts that long as Spider-Man to be honest

No to bash the character (still waiting for the first TPB collection) but the current market is awful and Marvel relies on stunts and gimmicks so I guess Ultimate Peter will be back next year at the latest.

It's good to see a lousy actor so eager to give up a role for a change--hopefully that means we'll never be exposed to a Spider-Man 3 with that drippy-faced hairclown.

This entire post makes me laugh. Well done.

Oh wait, you were serious? Now I'm sad.

I think we need another movie that tells Spider-Mans origin after this... Because that story just hasn't been told enough.

You should reflect more on the history of the Ultimate line. It's FAR more likely that the line as a whole will fold than they'll bother to bring back Ultimate Peter Parker.

(Also, if I had to lay odds: the "Spider-Men" event is a time travel story where Miles Morales teams up with a pre-death Peter Parker.)

Never going to happen in a movie. You'd never find a producer with the balls to offer anything but the most recognisable version of the character. If Miles is ends up being a successful and long running character, I could well see him as the star of an animated series or something, but not a movie.
