Default Marvel Launches An All-Female X-Men Book. Called X-Men.

Looks like we were on the money with that XX teaser the other week, a new mutant book by Brian Wood and Olivier Coipel with a female-centric theme.

Turns out it's more than one of them though. It stars Jubillee, with Storm, Rogue, Kitty Pryde, Rachel and Psylocke as support cast, and coloured by Laura Martin.

It's called X-Men. The temptation to call it X-Women was valiantly resisted.

    And they're bringing back Sublime.

With Fearless Defenders and Uncanny X-Force, Marvel do seem to be raising their game in this regard somewhat.

The redemption of Jubilee begins now.

(Jaykay, Marjorie Liu actually wrote her really well in X-23, but that book didn't have a big enough audience.)

Anyway, this is going to be fantastic. Snark aside, I can't wait to find out who the rotating/ next artist is, as the other X-books have really fantastic art teams right now and no one would ever think Coipel could do a consistent run.

A little surprised this isn't subtitled or called something a little different, but I guess this allows it to transition fairly easily to other directions in the (hopefully distant) future.

*sigh* Just COULDN'T let the herd of X-books get naturally thinned out, couldja, Marvel? HADDA relaunch one of the two pointless hanger-on satellite titles, the announcement of the cancellation of which had everyone essentially saying "about time."

That said - fucking awesome creative team.

    Emotions... torn.

    (Is Jubilee still a vampire?)

Segregating the female members of the most gender-balanced team ever is a step in the right direction?

    This looks like fun.

So my theory is that when the devil wants to get something out of you, he doesn't lie at all. He tells you the exact, literal truth. And he lets you find your own way to hell." Mr. Easterman

Marvel has gotten much better about this, hasn't it? Fearless Defenders, XX-Men, Captain Marvel, Red She Hulk, Journey Into Mystery starring Sif, and Uncanny X Force seems to be fairly female-dominated.

    Am I missing any?

Damn. I might actually pick this one up, which would double my monthly Marvel intake.
