Default Amazing Spider-Man #700 Steve Ditko Cover Breaks $1200 On eBay

It was the 1:200 cover of Amazing Spider-Man #700 comic. Albeit it, that was of a $7.99 comic. Buying two hundred of those would cost you $1600.

But then you would also be able to get a copy of the Steve Ditko 1:200 cover, which you would be now able to sell for over $1200. Which might make it all worthwhile.

Especially since you could sell one of the 1:150 covers for over $300?* and two 1:100 covers for over $200 each.

In fact just by selling those four variant covers alone, you've more than covered the cost of buying two hundred copies of Amazing Spider-Man #700 at full retail price.

    Hmm.

Is it cruel to plan ahead to be amused when these are going for $150 on ebay in six months? Because variants have such a wonderfully rich history of getting more valuable as time goes by and all.

Somebody would pay more than $4 for that. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

I wonder how they will feel in a year when it is worth a dollar.

Here's the thing that you seem to be over looking, in order for a retailer to cover the cost of those 200 copies of ASM #700 they would have to find a suck....er...I mean someone dumb enough to spend that kind of money for those individual variant covers. If a retailer can't sell those variant copies at that high price and/or is unable to sell most of those 200 copies of ASM #700, then they are screwed.

Well, you have to be savvy and have a good instinct if you're gonna play that game, sure. A lot of guys are pretty sharp at it.

A savvy businessperson probably wouldn't wait so long on this one--if you check the completed sales for lots of ASM 700 you will see they are making more than cover price off of them right now:

I agree that the frenzy is at full blast right now. But would it be otherwise, since the book has been out just a few days

This summer at the conventions, in the dollar bins, however...
