    Default The Shop That Got A Superior Spider-Man Signing On Kickstarter

    Ryan Stegman, artist on Superior Spider-Man #1 will be sketching and signing at Legacy Comics of Laredo, Texas on January 9th, the release date of the comic.

    How did such a small store get such a big name from out of state for a signing of such a prominent comic? Nepotism? Coercion? Bribery?

    Yes, the last one of those.

    The Kickstarter for the I Draw Comics project offered a store signing by Ryan Stegman for anyone

    The small shop got the signing through a Kickstarter donation.... $500 got them;
    IN-STORE SIGNING! Do you own a comic book store and want Ryan Stegman to come and sign books?! This tier's for you!! Sounds like a pretty good deal! So on January 9th head to Legacy Comics, 5702 McPherson Rd, Suite 1, Laredo, TX 78045... nd bring every Ryan Stegman book you have with you to get signed!

    I think this is a badass move from the comic book store perspective as it made a donation for Ryan Stegman's Kickstarter project and it benefitted both parties. It was a right place/right time situation and it's petty for Rich Johnson to make the store look bad just to get clicks on his site. I am offended as a worker of the Legacy Comics store and I feel each time Rich makes these outlandish news pieces that he's only about getting clicks for the bleeding cool website. Stay Classy Rich

    A bribe? Really Rich? You have gone off the deep end to generate some news.

    Being a Texan I would love to go, but Laredo is still 400 miles away from where I live. I love Texas, but sometimes the size...

    Laredo is so far away from anything. Work gets me stuck there about once a year. Sadly, not this time though.

    Bribery: "The act or practice of offering, giving, or taking a bribe."

    Bribe: "Something, such as money or a favor, offered or given to a person in a position of trust to influence that person's views or conduct."

    First of all, bribery isn't mentioned anywhere in the title of this article; there's nothing negative generating clicks. However, bribery is an appropriate word to use, given a solid understanding of English. In this case, money given to Stegman through Kickstarter was enough to influence his conduct - i.e. bring him to Legacy comics. That doesn't mean Stegman, the comic shop, and customers can't benefit, and it certainly doesn't in any way negate the 'awesome-ness' of getting a big name in a small store.

    Incorrect. You only bolded money, how about you read the rest of your own example. "a position of trust to influence that person's views or conduct".
    Yeah, I don't think this meets that. Stegman is not in a position of trust and this doesn't influence his views or conduct. Because the kickstarter was open to everyone, it was basically asking for an appearance fee.
    So yeah, given a solid understanding of English...you are wrong.
