    Default Marvel Now Number Twos

Seven issue twos in one week from Marvel? Looks like someone's trying to get a lot of comics in before the end of the year... quarterly figures or some such. I'd try to explain, but it would bore my just as much as it would bore you.

But how are the Marvel NOW! comics currently on their second issues standing up?Thor is doing a sterling job, fighting a god killer at three different times in his life. That's what happens when you get a God Killer outside of time ans space, causality just goes out of the window. Its a novel twist on the usualm derring do, and we get such disparate scenes and times portrayed rather convincingly. Even if one seems to borrow quite a bit from Miyamato...

Captain America is also in a differnt time and place, and we join him a year after we last met him, now fully into Lone Wolf And Cub territory. It might make a nice change for the rest of the world when he eventually comes back, for him to haver aged and they haven't.

What this scenario does acheive is put Captain America into impossible situations that he can't just call up the Avengers to help?* sort out. He has to make the calls that he could normally find ways out of. Such as this.

They probably should have called it Planet Cap though. Over on Indestructable Hulk, we get a bit of gamma mixed in with a bit of topicality as Bruce Banner, scientist brings us...

... gamma fracking! As Tony knows, it's just like fracking but more gamma. And a Bruce Banner first person caption box as if he's some sort of mad scientist. Which he is, but wasn't that the before Marvel Now Doctor Moreau arc? Anyway, I'm expecting a "Bwa hah hah" caption box any day now. So what else can you do with gamma?

You can power projectile weapons apparently. That has to come in handy. Thunderbolts is managing the straddle the lines of action adventure and parody rather nicely, courtesy of some rather extreme world view points.

    Avengers

    Cable And X-Force

Comics courtesy of Orbital Comics, London.

I'm surprised at how much I'm interested in a lot of these Marvel Now! books.

But I'm only buying digital books these days, and I'm not paying 4 bucks for a digital comic.

It's worse than you thought, Rich - Thor's already onto #3. I have to say, the super-speedy releases have me just passing stuff over.

Cap #1 wasn't my favorite but I would have definitely gave it another shot if it weren't for the ridiculous amount of books they threw out there this week. Dropped
