Default Marvel Reaping Its Own Whirlwind Of Spoilers

Warning. There may be Spider-Man and Avengers Arena spoilers at the end of this article.

    I blame Marvel personally.

First it was spoiling all manner of stories in the national press one, maybe two days, before the comic was available on the shelves.

Then, this year, they decide to prevew All New X-Men by running the final pages of that issue. Some thought this preview of Avengers Arena did the same.

Didn't though. We know that now.

But can you really blame people for playing along? Such as the final page of tomorrow's Avengers Arena #1leaking out detailing a certain death which may have all manner of people up in arms (Massive spoiler on this link). Or pages (below) purporting to be the final pages of Superior Spider-Man #1 that seems to fit the pages already previewed? But is probably pages taken from another printed preview?

Of course, Dan Slott asked people specifically not to spoil the ending of Amazing Spider-Man #698. They didn't listen to him and it was spoilt a week in advance. With even one prominent Spider-Man review site heading straight for the spoiler, not to mention a certain creator in a certain strip bar telling all...

The two Spider-pages mentioned above are below. You have been warned, whatever their nature. The far more spoilery Avengers Arena last page follows...

Don't care about Arena at all. But I seen those Spidey pages yesterday and they have me guessing. Its a very different way of speaking and obviously the reference to Parker in the third person is another curve ball. Goddamn Slott.

No interest in Spider Man, but that Arena page looks great actually. Really upped my excitement.

The pendantic dialogue. The nearly unintelligible paneling. Yep, this is the same Marvel I left beind years ago.

Finally read all the Big Time books up through #699. This is kind of sad to say, but Slott never really found his groove on the book. He's been writing on autopilot, and these preview pages for the relaunch feel the same.

And I say this as someone who liked his She-Hulk and Arkham Asylum.

Well, it does seem that Otto is still Spider-Man. But even if he isn't, these two pages make me very unsure if I will enjoy reading about whoever it is.

And you know who this new Spidey reminds me of a little? Gregory House. Mostly because of his sarcasm. And while House is a great character, I don't know if I want to see someone like him in a role of Spider-Man.

Aside from the fact that Arena is such a pathetic rip of Battle Royale (like Hunger Games was), and the fact it's just so cheesy and easy to kill off someone like Mettle just for the outrage, aside from all that....is that supposed to be Arcade? Please tell me it's a new Arcade. The original has never looked anything like that.

The Avengers really are not a good group of people.

I'm going to read the first issue of Avengers Arena, I dig Kev Walker's art but fear it will be bumping off characters for the sake of moving a few issues.

As for Superior Spider-Man, I'm on for the ride. I feel Peter will be in a living body but not Spider-Man and Otto will not be Spidey by the end of #700. Who will it be? Maybe Paste-Pot Pete? Just because.
