Default Don't Worry About The X-Men Legacy Paper

If you picked up a copy of X-Men Legacy #2, you may have been a little worried about its lack of, well, heft. It felt thinner, the pages more see-through. Indeed, when scanning pages for yesterday's report, I had to fiddle with the settings as details of the page behind it came right through.

The worry is, is this the way things are going to be from now on? With all of Marvel's comics?

Seems not. The printer used the incorrect paper stock and by the time it was discovered, it was on the way to retailers.

I understand the printer has been given a smack on the hand by Marvel and told them not to do anything like that again. They are also checking that no other books have been printed in such an offensively thin fashion...

Good to know. I use thicker paper than that in my bathroom. For $3-$4, we deserve better.

The paper might have been thin, but the story was not....I think all the people sleeping on this title are going to be missing out. The first issue didn't make the mission statement as clear as this one did, but legion getting a handle on his powers one by one while being hunted by various organizations combines w/ Simon spurriers unique snarky voice & tan huat's quasi-psychedelic artwork to make this a very fun read, pure in the vein of waid's daredevil relaunch....this to me is the whole point of marvel now, to catch the lightning in a bottle like waid's dd, ruckas punisher, & Aaron's wolverine managed to, not radically redesigning the characters, but stripping them down to their purest & best forms

But not reprinting and replacing every copy?

Another advantage to going all-digital is avoiding stuff like this. I know this happened a few years ago with a DC book. I think it was a 2nd printing or something? I remember flipping a page, tearing it, and momentarily thinking I had gained superpowers.

Oh, and ink stains. Once every three months, I would open a comic and find a giant ink blot on the page. Not cool.

It felt like a leaflet. But yeah, it was a pretty good read. Unlike the first issue of Wolverine Max which was for some reason printed on super reflective gloss paper.

I hate how thin and glossy the paper is already in most cases.
